Infinix Smart 8 Plus Review (Price and Spec )
The recently launched Infinix Smart 8 Plus stands out among the sea of iPhone clone designs currently saturating the market. Priced at around 200k, this budget phone may seem unremarkable at first glance. However, it brings some impressive features that could make it a worthy investment. Let’s explore what makes the Smart 8 Plus special, along with areas where it could improve.
Performance and Specs
The Smart 8 Plus runs on a MediaTek Helio G36 octa-core processor, a step up from the UNISOC processor found in the regular Smart 8. Many users prefer MediaTek for its efficiency and performance, especially in battery consumption and higher resolution support. The device features a 50 MP main camera, complemented by an 8 MP selfie sensor, and boasts eight camera modes, including slow motion and portrait modes.
Impressive Battery Life
One of the standout features of the Smart 8 Plus is its 6,000 mAh battery. Typically, we see 5,000 mAh batteries in budget phones, so this larger capacity is a welcome addition. The device charges via an 18W charger, which may not be the fastest but can take the battery from 77% to 92% in just 30 minutes. This slower charging speed is somewhat offset by the impressive battery life, making it an excellent choice for gamers and heavy users.
Unboxing Experience
The packaging for the Smart 8 Plus mirrors that of the regular Smart 8 and other similar devices, housing the phone, an 18W charger, a USB Type-C cable, an earpiece, a SIM eject pin, and a bumper case. The overall design remains consistent with previous models, but that doesn’t detract from its appeal.
Design and Build Quality
While the design may not be groundbreaking, it feels comfortable in hand. However, it lacks dual speakers, which might disappoint some users. The SIM tray supports dual SIM cards and a memory card, and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner is quick and responsive.
Camera Performance
The 50 MP rear camera offers decent quality for a budget device. Although it lacks a “super night mode,” it performs reasonably well in well-lit conditions. The portrait mode effectively blurs backgrounds, while the slow-motion feature records at 120 frames per second, delivering satisfactory quality.
The 8 MP front camera also produces good quality images and supports most modes available on the rear camera—except for slow motion
Display Quality
The Smart 8 Plus features a 720p resolution display, which is somewhat disappointing given its capabilities. However, it supports a 90Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smooth user experience. Direct sunlight can make viewing challenging, but the overall brightness is acceptable for indoor use.
Software and Gaming
The device comes with a limited number of pre-installed apps, around 41, which is fewer than what you’d find on many other budget phones. This is a plus for those who prefer a cleaner user experience. However, gaming performance may not be as strong as expected. While the Helio G36 processor offers better general performance, it is not designed for heavy gaming, so stick to lighter arcade games for the best experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Large 6,000 mAh Battery: Excellent for heavy usage.

- Affordable Price Point: Competitive for the features offered.
Cons:
- Low Display Resolution: 720p may not meet expectations.
- Design Lacks Originality: Similar to other budget phones.
- Slow Charging: This could be faster considering the battery size.
