Call me old-fashioned, but I’ve always been a fan of jotting things down the traditional way. It works, but recently, I was looking for something a little more modern. Enter the Infinix XPad—a budget-friendly tablet that combines practicality with solid performance for note-taking, media consumption, gaming, and even getting work done. The price initially caught my attention, but is it really worth buying? And who is this tablet for? Keep reading to find out.

Design and Build Quality

The Infinix XPad comes in three attractive colors: Titan Gold, Frost Blue, and Stellar Gray. If you’re in the market for a stylish device, I recommend going for the Frost Blue variant. It’s sleek and stands out without being too flashy. Early buyers also get a free case and a power bank, which is a nice bonus.

The tablet sports an 11-inch display with a plastic chassis and an aluminium frame, giving it a sturdy yet lightweight feel. Weighing just 496 grams, it’s not the lightest tablet on the market, but it’s comfortable enough for extended use. The build quality is decent for its price, although it’s worth noting that it doesn’t have an IP rating—so keep it away from water.

Display and Media Consumption

The XPad features an 11-inch 1080p IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, making it a great device for watching content. The bezels around the display are a bit noticeable, especially on the Titan Gold model, but they’re not distracting. If bezels are a concern, you can go for the LTE version, which has a black finish that helps them blend in.

While the display doesn’t support HDR content, it offers good color reproduction, and the speakers—four stereo speakers to be exact—are impressively loud for a budget tablet. However, outdoor usage might be a bit tricky since the brightness peaks at 440 nits, which can be difficult to see in direct sunlight. Indoors, though, it performs just fine.

Performance and Gaming

Under the hood, the Infinix XPad is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset paired with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. For everyday tasks like browsing, note-taking, and watching videos, the tablet performs well. The 4GB version is sufficient for casual use, but if you’re into gaming or heavy multitasking, I recommend upgrading to the 8GB model. This version is also available with LTE support, which is perfect if you need cellular connectivity.

Gaming performance is where the XPad starts to show its limits. It can run lighter games like Real Racing 3 and Mobile Legends smoothly, but with graphics set to low, the larger 11-inch display can make the graphics look a bit rough. PUBG Mobile runs at HD graphics and a high frame rate, but again, don’t expect the most stunning visuals. That said, it handles mobile games without major issues, and the 8GB version provides a better experience overall with less lag and smoother multitasking.

Battery Life and Charging

One of the standout features of the Infinix XPad is its 7,000mAh battery. In my testing, it lasted for about three days with moderate use, including gaming and YouTube. When it’s time to recharge, the tablet can go from 0% to 100% in about 2 hours and 43 minutes, thanks to the 18W fast charger included in the box. That’s pretty good for a device in this price range.

Software and Usability

The XPad runs Android 14 with XOS 14 on top. The interface is clean and free from ads or bloatware, which is a big plus for anyone who dislikes cluttered software. Infinix promises two years of security updates, so you’ll get some peace of mind in terms of software support.

As for the camera, there’s nothing extraordinary here. The front and rear cameras are fine for video calls and snapping documents, but don’t expect great photos in low light. The addition of two microphones also helps with call quality, and the flash LED light is a nice touch for low-light scenarios.

Who is the Infinix XPad For?

If you’re a casual user, this tablet is an excellent choice. It’s perfect for kids and young adults who need a reliable device for school, entertainment, or light gaming. The large display, great speakers, and solid build quality make it a fantastic media consumption device, and the keyboard—which Infinix sent me for testing—is one of the best I’ve used on a tablet. If you’re planning to do a lot of typing, I highly recommend grabbing this keyboard.

The XPad is also a great option if you’re looking for an affordable tablet that’s easy to repair locally. If something goes wrong, you won’t have to deal with expensive repair fees or waiting for parts to be imported.

However, if you’re an artist or someone who needs pressure sensitivity for drawing, this tablet is not for you. The lack of stylus support (other than basic universal ones) and the lag when drawing might be frustrating for creative professionals.

Similarly, if you’re a hardcore gamer, the graphics might not be up to your standards. For those who love immersive, high-quality graphics, this tablet’s performance will fall short.
